Help Us Set National Emergency Standards on Sustainable Building
 

 

AIA members are working to gain acceptance of two important initiatives in the race to end rising energy costs and damaging climate change within five to ten years. We need your support in finalizing the National Emergency Standards on Sustainable Building Products and Zero Energy Buildings. Formal adoption of these standards will further the AIA's effort to cut fossil fuel energy usage in half by 2010 and be carbon neutral by 2030.

The Zero Energy Building Standard is performance-based, and it covers all needed steps to take homes and buildings to zero conventional energy. This includes energy audit, reverse metering, renewable power, energy efficiency, energy storage, energy recovery ventilation, and energy cost projections for greater dollar levels of funding through performance contracting and other funding measures.
